BBC: 'Free Tibet' Flags Made In China

From BBC:

Police in southern China have discovered a factory manufacturing Free Tibet flags, media reports say.

The factory in Guangdong had been completing overseas orders for the flag of the Tibetan government-in-exile.

Workers said they thought they were just making colourful flags and did not realise their meaning.

But then some of them saw TV images of protesters holding the emblem and they alerted the authorities, according to Hong Kong's Ming Pao newspaper.

This is just irony to the nth degree. Chinese authorities suppressed so much knowledge until the point of making its citizens ignorant. Ladies and gentlemen, that's authoritarianism at work here.

  1. You are just as ignorant as any western media propagandists could be. If china has suppressed its citizen, there won't be any showing of the flags on TV right? Then these workers wouldn't know what those "colourful" flags are right? Then they won't alert the authority right?

    hmmm..

  2. It's common knowledge that Chinese authorities would spin out pro-China/anti-Tibet propaganda instead of sticking to the truth. If that's not promoting ignorance, then I don't know what is.

Anyway, given the choice between a flawed capitalist society and a repressive authoritarian society, I would choose the former. Would you prefer surfing and blogging behind the Great Firewall of China?
